April 2024. Ableton was sitting on my machine and I had no idea where to start. A friend tried to teach me dubstep — it just didn't click. The software felt overwhelming in a way that made me want to close it every time I opened it.
Then my cousin found out I had it. He'd already been messing around with Ableton on his own, and we're both deep into hip-hop — so when we started talking about it, something finally clicked. The genre matched the way I think about sound. We decided to make an EP together and that energy completely lit me up.
"I even made the cover art. That's when I knew — this wasn't just a phase."
Ever since that moment, I make something every single day. Not always great. Not always finished. But I sit down, open Ableton, and make something. Some days it's a full beat. Some days it's just a loop that goes nowhere. But it fuels my spirit in a way nothing else quite does.
Sometimes my friends actually vibe with it — which still catches me off guard every time. The thing that sticks with me most is how simple it was to get started once the right person was in the room. I wish I had started sooner. But I'm here now, and I'm not stopping.
